I recently wrote an article about my love of all things French (Inspired by French design). This love was inspired by my lovely sister-in-law, Tash, giving me a French design book for my birthday. I decided to redesign the guest bedroom and I’ve been waiting for the artwork to arrive so I can share the finished product.
And here it is …
I was set on the idea of having Queen Anne bedside tables. I spent quite a bit of time searching on the internet for them. These are the one’s I eventually bought.
Given the colour scheme I had in mind for the bedroom, they needed some restoration. The green and cream had to go.
Here’s how they ended up, with the beautiful lamp shade my mum and I recovered to match the bedhead (see DIY – Giving a lamp shade a simple touch of elegance).
I wanted to keep the room light and open so I decided on grape and white for the colour scheme. Grape cushions, curtains and pelmet and the rest white.
The French inspired prints I found.
And here’s the finished product.
I love how the bedhead turned out. I actually got my husband to cut down the original bedhead and I bought some material and padding to cover it with. I’ll share how to do this in another blog article.
Another room finished with a beautiful outcome. Thanks Tash for the inspiration, you can come and stay anytime.
