Flower boxes to brighten up your home

Flower boxes to brighten up your home

We have a front balcony that faces the street and runs off our master bedroom. Although we don’t often go out onto the balcony, it’s an area that would benefit from some prettying up. When traveling through Europe (especially Spain and Italy) I have always admired the beautiful flower boxes people have outside their homes bursting with colourful flowers. Now that we are coming into spring, I thought it might be nice to incorporate the same sort of idea. Here’s some beautiful images I found.

This colour scheme would be brilliant for us, as our house is white and grey. I adore the contrast of the red flowers and the white window frame and flower boxes.

Flower boxes This is the sort of thing you see throughout Spain, especially in Seville.

I often wish we lived in a climate where we could achieve so much beautiful colour from our flowering plants.

Now I am confused, not sure whether to have one colour, or a mix of different flowering plants.

I really like how they have incorporated 2 different types of plants here with the contrasting greens.

I’m not sure what colour scheme to go with now. I’m going to start looking around for some flower boxes too!

I’d love to hear what you think.

Hey Billie, great inspiration! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Regarding lining our planter boxes with plastic…I am growing veggies in them organically, so we didn’t line them. I stained the inside with a whey stain, but if I were just growing flowers in them, I would line the boxes to make the wood last longer.

      Hi Pam,
Thanks for sharing. We want to ensure the timber lasts so we think we will line it. I will be sure to drop by your blog soon!
